Why run the Fjordkraft Bergen City Marathon and visit the city of Bergen?
Bergen is easy to get to with direct flights from several of the big cities in Europe. When you have finished the 30-minute journey from the airport into the city centre, you will notice that Bergen is a cozy compact city, which is easy to explore on foot.
1. The pier
One of the most famous buildings in Bergen is on UNESCO's list of world cultural heritage. Not only do you have the opportunity to start and finish at the wonderful Bryggen during the Fjordkraft Bergen City Marathon (BCM), but you can also enjoy the outdoor restaurants, have a cup of coffee or take a walk between the crooked buildings with history from the Middle Ages . 2. The city mountains
Bergen is unique in the sense that the city is surrounded by 7 mountains. Not far from the arena of BCM, is the city mountain Fløyen. Are you too tired to walk up the mountain after the race? Take it easy. The flyway drives you all the way up so you can enjoy the great view, together with one of the famous schilling buns or enjoy a delicious midday meal at Fløien folk restaurant. If you want to visit Ulriken, you can take a bus from the center and either walk or take the gondola up to the top. There is also a restaurant here worth checking out.

3. Fjord cruise/paddling
Bergen city is fantastic, but perhaps even more beautiful from the sea side. If you have the opportunity, it is worth joining one Fjordcruise to experience the spectacular fjord that exists in Norway. It is also possible to rent a kayak to take a paddle trip in historic surroundings.

4. Food experiences
Norway has its traditional food traditions and some restaurants offer local products, as well as fish and meat from Norway. Perhaps you would like to try the famous Norwegian salmon, or other delicious seafood. Another delicacy is venison. Here you can, for example, test exotic reindeer meat or maybe elk meat is something for you. You will also find many other good restaurants that offer dishes from all parts of the world.
5. Museum
Beautiful Troldhaugen was the home of the world-famous Edvard Grieg and is one of Norway's major tourist attractions. Today you can visit the Villa, the Composer's cottage and the couple's burial place. In addition, regular concerts are held in the modern museum building and the Troldsalen concert hall, which has been built in recent times. A trip to Lysøen is recommended. The island consists of the world-famous violinist Ole Bull's villa and a magnificent park with fantastic scenery, tourist trails and a lookout tower erected in memory of Ole Bull. Gamle Bergen museum is worth a visit. In the 19th century, this was Europe's largest wooden city. Old Bergen is a reconstruction of this city, with 50 wooden houses from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.
