Race concept

The Backyard Ultra race is perhaps the most exciting new running concept.

Every hour, participants must set out on a new lap of 6.706 km, which they only have one hour to complete AND be ready to start the next round.

If you do not complete the round within the time limit, or are not ready to start when the bell rings, you are DNF – Did Not Finish.

Only one runner can complete the race, and that is the one who completes the last lap without anyone else. If no one runs a final lap, then there is no winner.

Location

The race takes place in Annebjerg Skov, located in Odsherred. There is a meeting point at the fantastic shelter site, where you can either settle in a shelter or set up your own pavilion. The site has access to water and good compost toilets.

The route

The route is extremely varied with large and small paths, flat stretches and hilly sections through different forest types. Each lap has about 120 meters of elevation gain. It is a demanding but cool route. Trail shoes are definitely recommended on the route.

The first 6 laps are expected to be run in daylight, but lap 7 and onwards are expected to be completed with a headlamp.

The 2025 race is one of the official Silver Ticket races and thus provides access to the Backyard Ultra World Team Championships 2026. Will 27 laps be enough to enter?

Number of participants

120 runners

Price for participation

275 kroner + 15.00 kroner online fee

The price includes accommodation and space at the shelter site either in a shelter (first come, first served) or your own tent/pavilion, as well as access to water and compost toilets.

The participation fee is not refundable but you can transfer your space to another runner.

PS. The race is a non-profit race. The proceeds go to a good cause.
