Description

The Ålesund Winter Carousel consists of 5 races throughout the winter. The race starts at 14.00 from BestDrive in Fremmerholen on the second Saturday in the months of November, December, January, February and March. The race has two distances of 5 and 10 km, which run on control-measured tracks. The race goes into Brusdalen, turns after 2.5 and 5 km and returns to the start/finish. The 5 km distance also has a class for trimmers without timing.

Awarding:

Each race has its own awarding with drawing of a gift prize. The winner will be contacted afterwards. Everyone who participates in 3 or more races in the carousel will be awarded the carousel's fine prize after the last race on Saturday 8 March 2025. Prizes will also be drawn after each race.

History:

Ålesund Winter Carousel started in the mid-1980s century, but then went in the Furmyra/Åse area. Due to poor plowing and complicated road selection, a new course was chosen on Gamle Brusdals road in 2001. Organizers have been Tele Sport until 2001, ÅBIR (Ålesund business sports council) until 2005 and the Ålesund races until 2020. From 2020, the Business Sports in Midt-Norway took over over the organizer's responsibility. From the winter of 2023, the Ålesund Races will once again be the organiser. The participant record for a single race in the carousel is 132 finishing participants (Saturday 14 November 2020).

Track records from the tracks in Fremmerholen:

The track records in today's route are held by Johannes Teigland with a time of 14.58 (13.11.2021) for 5 km.

Håkon Stavik and Simon Steinshamn hold the record for 10 km with a time of 31.04 (07.03.2020).

The women's 10 km track record is held by Live Johannessen Solheimdal with a time of 34.10 (11.11.2023). Ine Bakken holds the women's 5 km record with a time of 16.52 (13.11.2021).
