INTERVAL SESSION WITH PARTNER!

Written by Julie Rafoss 06/09/2020

It is not always as tempting to train, we can agree on that. Then it's great to agree with a friend both to have an obligation and to make the session even more fun. Here are suggestions for a running session you can do with a partner!

This works as a kind of relay where the intervals last for 30 seconds. If both of you have some kind of timer on you, either a watch or a mobile phone, you keep track of the time. If you don't want to use timers, you can use, for example, lampposts to measure distance on the intervals.

Warm up well with 5 minutes of light jogging.
Then you do as follows;
Partner 1 – Sprint for 30 seconds or to the first lamp post and stop there. When partner 2 is ahead, partner 1 sprints for 30 seconds or to the next lamp post.

Partner 2 – Sprints for 30 seconds or to the first lamp post when partner 1 is in front. When partner 1 is ahead at the second lamppost, partner 2 sprints to the second lamppost.

Partner 1 then gets a break while partner 2 runs, and vice versa. Repeat for example 10 times. Less if you are a beginner with running and preferably more if you are experienced or want to push yourself a little extra.

This can also be done as a hill race. Partner 1 sprints up and when he/she starts to go down, partner 2 sprints up.

The advantage of interval training like this is that you quickly forget that you are training because something new is happening all the time. In addition, you can cheer and push each other when the going gets tough!

End with a 5-minute leisurely walk to calm your body down πŸ™‚
Good luck! πŸ˜€
