The runners were back, the crowd as well, and the running and folk festival finally took over Gothenburg's streets again. When stood Amos Kipruto, Kenya, and Tigist Assefa, Ethiopia, as victors in the Gothenburg Round 2022.
In the men's class, there was above all a battle between the Kenyans Amos Kipruto and Titus Kimutai the former made a move a little before the riot into Slottsskogvallen. A jerk that lasted all the way in over the finish line in the time 01.00.50.
- I have fond memories of Gothenburg and the fine track and look forward to coming back and fighting again the victory. Last time I finished second, but I would like to win this time, said Kipruto before the race and thus succeeded in fulfilling the hopes.
It was a Kenyan triple on the podium when Josphat Kemei crossed the finish line in third.
On the women's side, it was instead the Ethiopians who dominated and took home the top three places. Tigist Assefa took home the victory on 01.08.20 after a great fight against compatriots Tiruye Mesfin (01:08:25) and Aminet Ahmet (01:08:26).
Many believed in advance that the track records were in danger. The conditions with good running weather, a new, flatter one Hisingsbro and a loaded and meritorious starting field were also there. Despite fine performances, Richard stands his ground Mengich's record of 00:59:35 from 2016 and Fancy Chemutai's record of 1:07:58 from 2017.
The best in Sweden during the 2022 Gothenburg round were Samuel Russom (01.02.28) and Hanna Lindholm (01:13:19) who both came in tenth place overall in the men's and women's classes.
