Birken Fjellmaraton

The Birken Mountain Marathon provides a genuine Birken atmosphere in lovely surroundings on varied terrain. After a bit of dirt road from the start at Sjusjøen, you run on a path in beautiful high mountain terrain over Sjusjøfjellet, Lunkefjell and Nevelfjell. The track turns at 1072 meters above sea level before reaching the top of Nevelfjell and after passing Lake Sjusjøen again there is quite a lot of descent on the way to the finish at Håkons Hall in Lillehammer. Along the way there is a lot of path, some dirt road and both soft and rocky parts. In total, there is 563 meters of elevation gain and 1159 meters of elevation gain down.

There are four drink and food stations along the way, in addition to refreshments after the finish line. Everyone gets a medal and the top three in each class are specially awarded.
