The city race runs in a loop along the Hjellevannet in the center of Skien, with some detours into the city streets that also provide some downhills. The surface is mostly asphalt, except for a few hundred meters of gravel. The Byløpet in Skien was formerly called Skagerakløpet.

The Byløpet is a race for EVERYONE, with distances for EVERYONE. We have 5 km, 10 km and a half marathon. The organizers are the sports groups Herkules Friidrett and Gjerpen Friidrett. The profit goes to the children and youth groups.
