Twice the distance, twice the fun!

Take the chance to make history. In connection with Gothenburg's big anniversary party, we celebrate by doubling the Göteborgsvarvet half marathon classic distance of 21 km, don't miss the unique Göteborgsvarvet Marathon!

At the same time as Gothenburg celebrates 400 years, the first and only edition of the Göteborgsvarvet Marathon kicks off. On September 3, 2023, it's time for thousands of runners to experience the city along the 42,195 meter long course.

The course – 42 km of history during the anniversary final!

The start starts from the heart of Gothenburg, Slottsskogen, and ends not far from there with the finish at the classic arena Slottsskogsvallen. The track runs two different laps around the city with parts of the classic Gothenburg lap as well as new track sections. The race offers charming and vibrant neighborhoods, bridges with fantastic views of Gothenburg's harbor entrance and archipelago, and an extraordinary folk festival. A stretch of track that runs along Gothenburg's history.

Well-deserved finish

Marathon medal - The medal for the Marathon race was created by the jewelry artist Carolina Claesson from HDK. The city coat of arms surrounded by a laurel wreath is perhaps Gothenburg's most classic expression. A medal that should represent an achievement of over 42 kilometers through Gothenburg's 400-year-old history.

Finisher T-shirt - In addition to the obvious medal, water and snacks at the finish line, you also get a Finisher T-shirt to take home with you. When registering, please state your size.
