Ultra X 100/50 Morocco

Ultra X Morocco takes place in North Africa, within the

Maghreb region. It overlooks the Mediterranean Sea to the north and the

Atlantic Ocean to the west. Morocco is an incredible country, rich in

biodiversity and a variety of climates, with an abundance of beaches,

mountain ranges and deserts. Its official and predominant religion

is Islam. The official languages are Arabic and Berber; with the

Moroccan dialect of Arabic and French also widely spoken.

Ultra X 110 Morocco is a two stage ultra marathon that takes place in and around the city of Ouarzazate (Pronounced – Wuh-zuh-zet).

Nicknamed the door of the desert, Ouarzazate is positioned in south-central Morocco, south of the High Atlas Mountains. This course will take you on a sensory journey, past Kasbahs, through traditional fortified villages, lush oasises and over rocky desert whilst being supported by the wonderful local population.

Taking part in early November, the climate conditions for the race should be temperate, with lows of 8°C in the evening and highs around 25°C during the day.

Ultra X 50 Morocco (50km race) takes place on the second day (Sunday) of Ultra X 110 Morocco.

The race organisers create each leg to take in the most beautiful and

picturesque aspects of the surrounding areas around Ouarzazate.

The course takes runners over rocky desert trails, alongside steep plateaus

and jebels, through local villages, lush and green Oasis’ and iconic film sets.

The route may change slightly each year depending on the weather and other

varying factors. GPX files will be provided to runners before the race.
