Description
24 Hours by the Sea in Sæby is an annual event that was started by local enthusiasts in 2013, and is aimed at both children and adults, amateurs and the elite. 24 Hours by the Sea is a race for everyone – ultrarunners as well as leisure runners, and it is possible to register as a single runner or on a relay team, where it is of course up to the individual whether the route is to be covered by walking or running. Many options There are many distances: half marathon, marathon, 3, 6, 12 or 24 hour race – relay or single and Danish Championship in 24 hour race. The route is the same for all distances, and it measures 1985 meters, so you are quickly back in the depot, and the distance can thus be covered by everyone, whether you are sprinting or walking. The surface consists of grass, gravel, asphalt and tiles. Regarding the right to start for the Danish Championships 24-hour race Based on the Danish Athletics Federation's annual meeting in November 2024, §6 regarding the right to start has been updated. It is now a requirement that all participants in a Danish championship must be members of a club registered with the Danish Athletics Federation (DAF). You have the following options if you want to participate in the Danish Championships 24-hour race: Join a DAF-registered club in your area, or sign up for a running membership with SIK 80 – Sæby Atletik. For only 100 kr. per year, you can become a member via this link: SIK 80 membership. Please note that there is an exemption from the requirement for club uniform for this event, so it is not necessary to compete in club uniform. Medals and trophies There are medals for all participants. At the Danish Championships there are Gold, Silver and Bronze in the Senior Danish Championships and Danish Masters classes. There is a trophy for the winning relay team and single runner in the 3, 6, 12 and 24 hour races, respectively. You might be lucky enough to win a sprint prize. Timing Chip is used for electronic timing. The chip records the time per lap completed. Distribution of chips Chips will be distributed in the information tent at the site on Friday, May 30, 2025, between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM, and on the day of the race between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM to the single runners and to the teams' contact persons. We would like to see that the relay teams collect their start numbers before 11:00 AM. One chip is used per person, and one dispatch per team. Depot and catering All registered participants may use the depot, which consists of water, soda, coffee, candy, chips and fruit. DMs have a separate space in the tent for their own depot. Dinner/supper and breakfast can be purchased, it consists of pasta and meat sauce for dinner, curry soup with flute for dinner and bread, cheese and cold cuts for breakfast, and you will be notified at what time you can pick up. The food must be ordered in advance when registering. Changes may occur. Relay teams are located on the left side of the site and single runners on the right side, and the site can be used freely to set up pavilions and tents, and there is also the option of bringing food and a grill, which may be used in your own tent area. Accommodation Brought-in tents can be set up in designated and marked spaces. For single runners, a separate tent area has been reserved in the finish area. Tents can be set up on Friday, May 31, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. There is a possibility to bathe at Sæby harbour - Requires a "bathing card", which can be purchased at the information tent. There is toilet capacity at the site from Saturday 31 May at 12:00 to Sunday 1 June at 12:00. Tent pitches must be vacated and cleaned no later than Sunday 1 June at 15:00. The rules and instructions of the race management and the fire authorities must be observed at all times. Weather conditions & headlamps The race will basically take place regardless of weather conditions. However, the race management is entitled to suspend or possibly interrupt the race in the event of suddenly occurring conditions of a force majeure-like nature that make it impossible or risky to continue the race, or which for other reasons mean that continuing the race would be contrary to generally accepted principles for holding sports events. According to the same criteria, the race management reserves the right to remove individual runners or teams from the race. Remember to bring headlamps! The route will be illuminated at night, but on certain sections only very sparingly. At your own risk Participation in 24 Hours by the Sea is at your own risk. Advertising The teams are allowed to put up signs with the team name/company name. It is not allowed to advertise or hand out/sell products or services in the entire tent and race area, unless the race management has given specific permission for this. Super price for all participants under 15 years of age, applies to all distances (DM in 24 hours, half marathon, marathon & 24 hours single dog excluded) For relay teams 3, 6, 12 and 24 hour races for teams are a relay race, where each lap per runner is once around the specified route. It is only allowed to change runners in the changeover zone in the finish area. It is not allowed to “share” one lap among several runners on a team. If this happens, the team will be removed from the timing. For teams, when the “horn sounds”, the number of completed laps counts and is added together.
