Balestrand Opp og Rundt

Description

Balestrand Opp og Rundt runs from Kviknes Hotel up to Raudmelen at 972 m above sea level. The race has one of the most beautiful trails in the country and the fastest runners spend just under 40 minutes on their way to the top.

There are cash prizes of NOK 2000, 1500 and 1000 respectively for the three fastest women and men. In addition, there are prizes in the various age groups under/over 23 years, as well as raffle prizes for starting numbers in the exercise class and the school classes that have the highest percentage of participation in the race.

A backpack is required for runners in the competition classes. The backpack must contain a windbreaker, pants, dry super underwear, hat, gloves and something to eat.

👟 Distances & Format:

Competition class (9km): A technical circular trail starting at the stadium, first part climbing to 400m, flat trail via Balabu and Fjærestadstølen, before turning down through Sandstølen and Skåsheim and back to Kreklingen stadium. Adapted for timing and ranking

Fitness class (6km): Same first part, but turning earlier in the trail - suitable for exercisers, without timing

🌿 Trail - Fjord, mountains and views:

Varied trail with panoramic views of the Sognefjord and Esefjella.

Elevation: Total approx. 959m climbed towards Raudmelen (972m)

Improved trails with local volunteer efforts and stone steps built by Nepal builders below the summit area

- Cash prizes: 2000 / 1500 / 1000 NOK for the three fastest women and men.

- Class prizes under and over 23 years old.

- Raffle prizes for exercisers and schools with high participation

🎒 Competition requirements & facilities:

- Competence class runners must carry a bag with equipment: windbreaker, pants, dry underwear, hat, gloves and energy.

- The bag can be checked at the finish and any deficiencies will result in additional time

- Start numbers can be collected on Saturday between 09:00–11:30 in Belehalli by the stadium; starter pack includes T-shirt and Balholm water bottle

🌄 Weekend offer:

- Held simultaneously with the Balestrand Open festival – mountain hikes, festival and socializing between September 5–7.

- Participants are automatically entered into a hotel room draw at Kviknes Hotel for a free stay
