Description
Walk 30 km or run 30, 60 or 100 km in some of Denmark's most beautiful and hilly nature. Silkeborg Forests offers Denmark's largest continuous forest area, which in this context means that almost the entire trip can be run on small paths. Silkeborg Forests is a unique forest area that goes all the way around the Silkeborg Lakes, only interrupted by the cities of Silkeborg and Ry. The forest area is Denmark's largest continuous forest area. The forests are very hilly and filled with beautiful and isolated areas, where you can feel like you are on an expedition. There are many viewpoints, which will also be part of the route. The forests are very different, which makes the running experience extra exciting, as there will always be something new to see. The race is organized by Silkeborg Orienteering Club, but the 30 and 60 km routes are fully marked. On the 100 km route, approx. 45 km will not be marked and must be run according to a GPX file. We will send out GPX files in the week leading up to the 60 km and 100 km races. DM - Long Trail 2025: Silkeborg Orienteering Club and Julsø Ultra proudly present the Danish Championships in Trail Running Long Distance 2025. We have previously hosted the DM in long trail in 2017 and the DM in short trail in 2021 and are looking forward to hosting for the third time. It will be great again to see Denmark's best trail runners compete for the title on the Julsø Ultra Classic route of 60 km. Julsø Ultra is open to all runners, but to participate in the fight for the Danish Championship, the runner must be a member of a club under the Danish Athletics Federation on race day. There is plenty of time to get yourself registered with a club before race day. To participate in the DM long trail, you must also be 20 years old by 2025, so the DM is for the year 2005 and earlier. In addition to the senior DM title for fastest man overall, there is a competition for the DM in 5-year master classes starting with 30 - 34 years, 35 - 39 years ... 75-80 years Start/finish: Start for 60 km and 100 km is at Silkeborg Orienterings Klub at Vejlsøvej 7B, 8600 Silkeborg. Start for 30 km GoCollective Scenic Trail and GoCollectivewalk is at Siimtoften, 8680 Ry, right next to Kvickly. Finish for all routes is at Silkeborg Orienterings Klub. There is free transport for participants on this day with GoCollective's train. The route can be changed before the start of the race due to permits etc., but the 60 km route will be close to the classic course described below. The race will run along the lakes - and it is a truly beautiful ride. The race will run up to Karoline Amalie Høj, where the descent is a bit different than in other years. If you are a seasoned Julsø Ultra runner, then keep an eye on the markings. After Karoline Amalie Høj, the race will take you out onto the peninsula "O-ringen", where a few hairpin bends have just been thrown in. It is one of the most beautiful places in the forest and it is not without reason that it is called "Paradise". Soon the participants are out at the edge of Virklund and a lovely trail runs along the paradise road, before the participants turn into Sønderskoven, where the Sea Eagles live. It soon goes along the water again, before taking you up to Slåensø and further up past the royal chair and via a beautiful shelf to depot 2 at 38 km/14 km. Now you enter another hilly and very beautiful area, which starts with Åsen and then Knøsen, after which you are led down to Mergelbanen, which takes the runners further over Smallebakke and then Himmelbjerget, where you just have to go up and around the tower! It goes down sharply from the back of the mountain - but soon it goes up again to "P2", after which we have climbed the false hill that Himmelbjerget is - and we can cruise along the fence to Rye Nørreskov along a lovely flow track. A gate is passed and soon it goes steeply down and down and down! Before you can hardly go any further down - and turn right and follow the large gravel road to Ry, where there is a depot at Siimtoften at Kvickly Ry after 53 km/ 28 km. From here there is a beautiful view over Birksø towards Himmelbjerget. The route runs along the grass before going down to the marina past Ry Rowing Club and further out around Skimminghøj, before we follow the "swamp path", which consists of a fine bridge and a series of wooden bridges out to Alling Vest, where you hit a sandy gravel road that takes you in to the canoe site at Alling Vest. After a steep descent you come down to Gudenåen and a nice piece of trail. Keep an eye on the markings, because just as it goes best, you have to turn right and steeply up to Bryggebjerg. Remember to look back at the end of the climb. It is one of the most beautiful views in Søhøjlandet! Now it goes down to the cove at Laven and from here further along the track and up towards Gammel Kol. We follow the Himmelbjerg route and have to go out for a bit in Gl. Laven before we run down towards Møgelø again and follow the hiking route. It's going well and Linå Vesterskov awaits with a few good ups and downs. Soon you're on a cycle path - and have to cross the road to depot 4 at 71 km/ 46 km/ 18 km. - Now Sindbjerg and Stoubjerg await. Our heather-clad landmarks! And after them Nordskoven! The route always varies in Nordskoven, but we've chosen a classic with good flow and the possibility of finishing well! A road has been plowed through Nordskoven, but fortunately still without cars. Keep a close eye on the markings on this last part of the route, as there is roadwork and there will probably be lots of boat activity at the marina! Yes, then you're back where you started! ?? The 30 km route will be one half of the 60 km route and you'll start from Ry. On the 100 km route there will be one or two loops, which will only be released later. In addition to this, you follow the 60 km route around. Recommended equipment: Trail shoes Windproof upper depending on the weather Pole poles are allowed Participation in Julsø Ultra is at your own risk.
