Description

Råskinnet is a cross-country race in the area around Sognsvann. It is a tough course that goes through marshes, on paths, up hills, down hills and through Sognsvann in both the south and north. A challenge for all levels, and everyone who completes can be proud of being a real Råskinn!

Råskinnet is an event for the whole family. We have races adapted to children and young people. Knøttetassen is for the youngest with a short and adapted route. Råtassen is for the middle-aged with a somewhat longer and tougher course than for the youngest.

Råskinnet is held annually on the first weekend in April/May, and in 2026 we will meet on Sunday, May 2!

Råskinnet is for those who are 16 years old and older (15-year-olds who are mature for challenges can run Råskinnet).

The cross-country course is approximately 9 km long. Some sections of the trail will always vary from year to year due to weather and snowmelt.

Division into pools according to estimated time calculated for a "normal" 10 km.

The start and Sognsvann (south)

The starting point for Råskinnet is at the grassy plain at NIH. From the start, you first cross the stream between NIH and Sognsvann, before you encounter the first challenge of the race. Here, the southern end of Sognsvann will be passed, and you will have the water at about thigh height. Once you have crossed Sognsvann, the trail runs along the parking lot and further uphill in a section with a fairly rough path and some bogs. After a couple of kilometers there is a steep short hill that will put lactic acid in your legs. It may be a good idea to stop there for a while.

Kollbakkene

Kollbakkene will be the next tough challenge of the trail. On the way up to Kollbakkene, you will encounter several bogs of varying length. The Kollbakkene are old ski jumps from 1942. First you run down the runoff channel, before you run up the ski jump on the other side. It will be steep both up and down these slopes. After the kollbakkene you run on to the north end of Nedre Blanksjø.

Godbekken and Sognsvann (north)

From Nedre Blanksjø you will enter the Godbekken area. This area is described as the nicest part of the trail with lots of fine primeval forest. You have now run about halfway. Here you will also encounter some marshy areas that will be challenging if the trail is wet and the snow has just melted. After Godbekken you will come to the trail's second water crossing. The north end of Sognsvann will be crossed, and the water goes almost up to chest height for the little ones. After only a hundred meters on the walkway, the trail turns 90 degrees into the forest again at Skjeggerud. The trail continues up towards Pinabekken, which you also run over. From here there will be slightly hilly terrain on a path, marsh and forest terrain south towards Løkka farm at the south end of Sognsvann.

Finish and ski-play-kneika

After passing the sand volleyball court, you run on a path at the edge of a field along Sognsvannbekken for a couple of hundred meters. Then you cross the stream on a bridge. The last obstacle on the way is the ski-play-kneika at NIH. From the top of the kneika you can see the finish 200 meters away. The finish is on the asphalt between the speaker booth and the athletics track at NIH.

NB: The course may vary from year to year due to weather and other unforeseen things
