Description
The Commune of Agadir and the Sport For Dev association, in partnership with the National Agency for the Development of Oasian Zones and the Argan Tree (ANDZOA), celebrate the International Day of the Argan Tree, proclaimed on May 10 by UNESCO. They are joining forces to organize the 4th edition of the "Semi-Marathon Agadir 2025," named "LA COURSE DE L’ARGANIER."
This major event, initially an educational 5 km race aimed at promoting physical activity and sports, called the "School Race," was originally reserved exclusively for children from the region and had gathered more than 2,500 athletes under the age of 18 in 2022 (a great success). For the second edition, the organizing committee decided to expand the event by introducing a 10 km race to attract running enthusiasts and highlight the tourism potential of the city of Agadir. Once again, it was a great success, with more than 4,500 athletes participating (children, adults, elderly people, people with disabilities…).
For this fourth edition, the sustainability dimension is integrated through the promotion of the argan tree, which illustrates the richness of the local heritage. By celebrating the International Day of the Argan Tree, we highlight an important economic sector, a lever for social inclusion, and an endemic production area (Arganeraie Biosphere Reserve).
The Course de l’Arganier thus aims to promote the city of Agadir as a sports tourism destination by showcasing its cultural and social specificities.
