PRESS RELEASE - New running competition to Västerås!

Västerås Swimrun, a private initiative established in 2016, is now one of Sweden's most popular Swimrun competitions and qualifying competitions for the World Swimrun Championships, "Ö till Ö". Now the team behind the competition wants to get even more people moving and experiencing Västerås's beautiful nature and is starting a new competition that includes all the fun from Västerås Swimrun, in addition to swimming.

Participants will take a ferry out to Gäddeholm and from there return to Västerås with the finish line at Kokpunkten, which is also a partner of the competition. You can choose to run either 14 or 33 km and the way back goes over both logs and stones and fast asphalt. “It will be a real but fun challenge for the average exerciser,” says Simon Zmrzlak, who is involved in organizing the competition.

Once at the finish line, participants can choose to relax in the boiling point spa or join dinner and a party at the Steam hotel in the evening. “We in the competition management enjoy parties as much as training and hope that as many people as possible want to celebrate with us during the evening,” says another of the organizers, Karl Forslin.

“We have received feedback from many that they would like to join in and experience Västerås Swimrun but cannot swim that far (up to 5 km, editor's note), so we hope that they want to come and just run instead and experience the atmosphere that we manage to build up during the competition,” adds Simon Zmrzlak.

The Västerås Run running competition will take place at the same time as Västerås Swimrun on August 16, 2025, and they share the finish line and competition arena. “As the number of participants is partly limited by the ferry capacity, it will be an intimate and pleasant race with a great atmosphere,” concludes the third organizer, David Jutterström.

Västerås Run

Running competition of 14 or 33 km includes everything a swimrun does, except for the small detail of swimming. The competition is a private initiative and is organized by Björn Offerman, Karl Forslin, Simon Zmrzlak and David Jutterström who also organizes Västerås Swimrun. The primary goal is to showcase Västerås's beautiful nature and get people moving.
