RunAgain Premium Week 1

I signed up for RunAgain Premium and got a personalized half-marathon training plan from Coach Kevin Ramsfjell. You can also choose other distances. My plan is customized based on how many kilometers I run per week, how many days a week, and my target time in my next race. It is easier for me to commit to a plan if I know it takes into account my goals and abilities.

So exciting to click on “Week One” and see what’s in store! The first surprise was that the interval workout looked pretty tough! A pace was set up that I know is possible for me, but also a stretch, right around my threshold heart rate. But as Coach Kevin says in the intro video, it’s not about following the plan 100%, it’s about giving what you can in each workout and using the plan as a motivation and guide. I could tell on my interval day I was not in top form, so I ran 5 of the 6 intervals progressively and finished the last one at the suggested pace. Felt amazing after!

I like that in this plan, I can add notes for each workout. I can look back at the week and see how I did – what worked and what didn’t.

So, surprise number two was the long run! I always run long runs super easy. As slow as I can manage. Coming up this Sunday, I have a 12k run with some increased speed at the end.
