The Pyramids Half Marathon is Egypt's flagship road running event, taking place annually at Egypt's most famous historical destination and the world's last remaining Wonder of the Ancient World: the Great Pyramids of Giza. The Pyramids Half Marathon takes thousands of runners on a tour of the Pyramids Complex, showcasing the three legendary pyramids of Pharaohs Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, as well as the six lesser ones built for their queens. The Pyramids Half Marathon has proven to be a major local and international participation sports event, bringing in thousands of participants and regularly welcoming runners from over 80 nationalities
Beginning in 2020, the Pyramids Half Marathon added a short-format running race to the event alongside the 21K and 10K, and since then the 5K has proven to be incredibly popular. The 5K Fun Run benefits from a relatively flat course, while the 10K and 21K races face a downhill stretch towards the Sphinx and the now-infamous incline on the way back up. The Pyramids Half Marathon is a fun, challenging, and unforgettable #RaceThroughHistory, perfect for runners of all ages and abilities, while also offering severe runners the chance to test themselves on a unique winter course that benefits from warm weather and clear conditions.
The Pyramids Half Marathon is AIMS-certified and is organized by The TriFactory, Egypt's leading participation sports event organizer, and is organized under the auspices of the Egyptian Ministry of Youth & Sports and the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities. The next edition of the Marakez Pyramids Half Marathon takes place on Saturday, December 9th, 2023.
