Description
Run through the sandy and rugged trails of Kenya’s best kept secret, the arabuko sokoke forest which take you to the newly opened trails with creepy silence only interrupted by rustling leaves and assorted sounds from over 230 species of birds that include the endemic & rare clark’s weaver & the sokoke scop’s owls. Your spectators will also include the elusive endangered golden-rumped elephant schrew, baboons, the bushy tailed mongoose, vervex monkeys & spotted ground thrush whose paths you get to cross.
Deeper into the forest the run takes you through the electric fence barrier into the JUMBO zone where elephant dung reminds you of the hosts that you get to later see at the viewing party by the swamp where the elephants & buffalos come for their sunset drink.
Runners have the option of visiting the nearby famous Gedi ruins where we have the KIPEPEO butterfly project & snake park after lunch served at the cultural centre where you will be hosted by members of the waata & giriama communities while you experience their amazing cultures.
