GGP'S HISTORY AND INTRODUCTION
GGP started in 2007, an idea to get more people to dare to try arena competitions as well. Over the course of 16 years, we have arranged a total of 195 competitions, 10-15 per year. In recent years, we have sanctioned most of the races so they have become official times reported to the Swedish Athletics Federation. Thanks to that, the number of runners from other clubs has also increased. We have averaged approx. 40 results per competition, had approx. 150 unique participants per year and of these approx. 40 from other clubs. We always have heats seeded after the expected finish time, as performance in the form of time is the focus, not placings. This year there will be slightly different prices also in addition to the IS Göta internal GGP table. Examples of new prizes are: diligence, best external runner, etc.
LAYOUT
At least 12 sub-competitions at distances from 400m and up to 10km and 1 hour of running.
The division into groups is made after a couple of sub-competitions based on seeding of 3000m- times and group winners from the previous year are moved up a group.
In addition to the IS Göta groups, there is a large group for external runners.
Group winners are moved up a notch. Others who are in the "wrong" group will be adjusted in the correct place.
You only compete against the runners in your GGP group. Each division gives points that are calculated within the respective group: last place gives 1 point, second last 2, then 3, etc. up to one. In addition to these points, placement bonuses are given to the first three with 3, 2 and 1 extra points respectively. The idea is to reward the podium, especially if there are few participants within a group at a certain distance.
