Description

KnarvikMila is known for its classic distances of 21km, 10km and 5km, and from 2023 also 3km, for runners.

Simultaneously with the introduction of a 3km race this year, we also wanted to establish a race exclusively for para athletes. Our experience shows that combining ordinary races and para athletes on the same course and at the same time can create some challenges with space on the course, especially for wheelchair athletes.

We wish to offer a separate race for para athletes, in order to create better conditions for to be able to run a good race for both the fastest wheelchair users and the para-runners, but also better conditions for those who spend a longer time on the course.

The route is planned to be the same as the 3km race and 3km hiking march (NaturMila) on the same day. Our trail will be one of the flattest and fastest trails you can find in Western Norway. Here, everything must be arranged for a good race, and a good race experience!

The track is a combination of asphalt and hard-packed gravel (Brekkeløypa), with the start and finish in front of the grandstand inside Knarvik Stadium.

Like all our other races this weekend, the race will have a common warm-up, start portal, starting gun, timing, good course markings, course guard, finish portal, intermediate times/final results and results lists on the big screen, medals for all athletes, prizes for the fastest, prize draws for everyone the participants, professional speaker etc.

KnarvikMila has invited the handicap association, the sports association and Olympiatoppen to provide input or be involved in the planning, for the best possible race and event for the para athletes.

3 km is open to everyone from 10 years of age. There will be 4 classes, women's and men's classes in sitting and standing. There will be prizes for the best 3 ladies and gents in both classes!

🚗

All participants will be entered into a draw for a wide range of other small and large prizes, including a Toyota from Eknes Karosseri AS available for one year in main prize!

Trail description: 🏃🧑‍🦽

Due to roadworks around Knarvik stadium, the track route has not been finally determined, but it will start and end at Knarvik stadium and include a lap in Brekkeløypa and something in Lonsvegen.

More info about the control-measured track will come as soon as the roadworks are finished and control measurements have been made!

In any case, the course will be flat and easy to run with long straight stretches - perfect for putting new people in.

The course is car-free and there will be spectators, drink stations, entertainment and activities along the entire course.

In the finish area you will receive a medal, water and banana. Here you will also find the Red Cross tent if you need assistance and an area of your own where you can mingle with other runners.
