Description
The MMT Ultra is a mere 30ish mile mixed trail/field/road run. The route takes you through the Marches of England, with extensive forests, limestone tops and gentle pastures in an area dominated in mediaeval times by the Mortimer family, one of the most powerful Norman earldoms. It follows a succession of hills and ridges with some strenuous climbs, crossing the valleys of the rivers Arrow, Lugg and Teme, taking in the Wapley hill fort, Croft Ambrey, Orleton Common, the High Vinnals, and Mary Knoll Valley, whilst meandering through a number of villages. The Trail starts in Kington, Herefordshire but soon enters Shropshire and finishes outside the grand main gates of one of the finest medieval ruins in England, set in the glorious bustling market town of Ludlow.
This route will appeal runners and walkers that are either looking for a great introduction to ultra distance events or athletes that are already established ultra runners and looking to test themselves on a relatively fast hilly course. With an estimated walk time of 9-12 hours and run time of 7-10 hours, this promises to be an adventure worth remembering.
Registration for this distance will be in Kington at 0730, with the race starting at 0800. Parking is available at Ludlow Rugby Club if you require transport from the rugby club to the start point. This will cost £12 per person and will depart the rugby club at 0700 prompt.
The MMT Byton 20 is a 20ish mile shortened version of the MMT Ultra. Taking in much of the Marches of England, it consists of mixed trail/field/road with extensive forests, limestone tops and gentle pastures in an area dominated in mediaeval times by the Mortimer family, one of the most powerful Norman earldoms. It follows a succession of hills and ridges with some strenuous climbs. The Trail starts in Byton, Herefordshire but soon enters Shropshire and finishes outside the grand main gates of one of the finest medieval ruins in England, set in the glorious bustling market town of Ludlow.
This route is typically more suited to runners and walkers that want to push themselves beyond a half marathon distance but that aren't quite ready to tackle an ultra. Rest assured, with an estimated walk time of 6-8 hours and run time of 4-6 hours, this promises to be an adventure worth remembering.

The MMT Croft 10 is a 10ish mile short course version of the MMT Ultra. Taking in some of the Marches of England, it consists of mixed trail/field/road with extensive forests, limestone tops and gentle pastures in an area dominated in mediaeval times by the Mortimer family, one of the most powerful Norman earldoms. It follows a succession of hills and ridges with some strenuous climbs. The Trail starts in Croft, Herefordshire but very quickly enters Shropshire and finishes outside the grand main gates of one of the finest medieval ruins in England, set in the glorious bustling market town of Ludlow.
This route is ideal for runners and walkers that can already complete at flat half marathon distance or athletes looking to increase from a 10k flat route. An estimated walk time of 3-4 hours and run time of 2-3 hours, this is a great route for our shorter distance athletes.
