Description

Experience the St. Moritz Running Festival 2025 in the midst of the breathtaking mountain scenery of the Engadin! From August 8th to 10th, 2025, the festival offers a diverse range of running routes and events for all levels—whether you're up for short, steep challenges, long, flat courses, or simply want to soak in the sporty atmosphere.

The festival kicks off on Friday, August 8th, with the "Race for the Cure" around Lake St. Moritz, which also marks the opening of the Festival Village in St. Moritz Bad.

On Saturday, the excitement continues with the "Free Fall Vertical," a demanding, steep race, while young athletes can shine in the "Kids Race." A special highlight of the day is the "Run for Fun," organized in collaboration with Special Olympics Switzerland, welcoming participants of all abilities, including those with disabilities.

That same day, from 2:30 to 6:30 pm, the Sports & Health Summit will take place in the festival village. This engaging event will feature expert talks from medical professionals, focusing on the connection between fitness, health, and performance.

The festival culminates on Sunday, August 10th, with the 46th annual "Engadiner Sommerlauf," a 25.5 km run known as ideal preparation for fall marathons. For those seeking a shorter distance, the scenic "Run Pontresina" winds 12.2 km through the enchanting Stazerwald forest. Additionally, the newly introduced "Run S," a 6 km course from Silvaplana to St. Moritz, follows the iconic paths of the Engadiner Sommerlauf.

Whether you're a seasoned runner or just love the energy of the sport, the St. Moritz Running Festival promises an unforgettable experience for all. Don't miss out!

**Engadiner Sommerlauf**

The Engadiner Sommerlauf is a stunning running event set against the scenic backdrop of the Engadin. It draws participants with its perfect blend of athletic challenge and the region's natural beauty. Starting in Sils, the 25.5 km route (+365 m/-401 m) winds through breathtaking landscapes, leading runners to the finish line at the St. Moritz Running Festival in St. Moritz Bad. Along the way, the course follows the shores of the Upper Engadine's largest lakes, traces the Inn River, and weaves through majestic larch forests. This one-of-a-kind race in the heart of the Alps not only inspires competitive spirit but fosters a profound connection with nature.

**Run Pontresina**

The Run Pontresina captivates runners with its distinctive atmosphere, taking them through enchanting larch forests and offering a truly memorable running experience. As part of the St. Moritz Running Festival, it presents a shorter yet equally appealing alternative to the Engadiner Sommerlauf. Covering a challenging 12.2 kilometers with a 220-meter elevation gain, the course begins in Pontresina and winds through the picturesque Val Roseg to Punt Muragl. From there, it traverses the serene Stazerwald forest, finishing at the St. Moritz Running Festival in St. Moritz Bad.

**Run S**

Experience an exciting new race from Silvaplana to St. Moritz! Whether you're up for a quick sprint, seeking a fun family race, or just starting your running journey, the Run S offers an exhilarating 6-kilometer route along part of the renowned Engadiner Sommerlauf track. The course takes you past four picturesque lakes, providing a chance to soak in the stunning panoramas of our captivating region.

**Free Fall Vertical**

Experience the exhilarating ascent of St. Moritz's famous ski racing slope, covering 6.6 kilometers and an altitude gain of 1,069 meters. The Free Fall Vertical takes runners almost straight up the mountain along the same iconic course. Starting at the festival village of the St. Moritz Running Festival by the lake, the route first winds through the urban streets of St. Moritz before ascending the downhill slope to the legendary "free fall"—the vertical start of the renowned local downhill ski race.

**Kids Race**

The St. Moritz Running Festival offers plenty of fun and age-appropriate courses, ensuring that even the youngest athletes have something to enjoy.

Price: Free, thanks to our sponsor Migros.

**Run for Fun**

At the St. Moritz Running Festival, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to participate—whether with or without disabilities. That's why we're proud to partner with Special Olympics Switzerland's “UNIFIED” program. Participants with disabilities can join the adapted "Run for Fun" category (1.5 km) or compete within their respective age groups.

**Race for the Cure**

Join a 4.3 km run or walk around the scenic shores of Lake St. Moritz, whether on your own or with a group! All proceeds go towards supporting breast cancer care in Engadin, the southern valleys, and Ticino, while inspiring people to stay active and healthy.

Finisher medal for all races. Drinking station details on website.
