Join us in Sierra Leone from the 1st of May 2024 for an epic three or five-day adventure. Choose to run off the beaten track discovering the beauty that Sierra Leone has to offer. Winding through tropical jungle and local villages, the varied routes will take you through some of the most stunning scenery in Northern Sierra Leone. From a brand new full and half marathon course to a 10K or 5K option, there is something for all running abilities. Regardless of the distance you complete, each race will provide you with a unique perspective on this beautiful country, all whilst challenging your body and mind.

This trip is so much more than just an awesome event. You will have the opportunity to explore Northern Sierra Leone with like-minded individuals, attending workshops and discovering more about Street Child's work. Your epic racing adventure will begin at dawn, finishing back at Wusum stadium in Makeni to a hand-carved medal and a cold beer or fresh coconut!

After a well-deserved rest that evening you then have the option to take a triumphant flight home or continue your journey to one of Sierra Leone’s tropical beaches. Here you can spend time relaxing or take the opportunity to get to know your fellow heroes from around the world. However you design your trip, one thing is for certain: the Sierra Leone Marathon will provide the adventure you are looking for.

FULL MARATHON 🇸🇱

Take on this brand-new full marathon course and be one of the first athletes to tackle 42km over new terrain. The route tells a fascinating story about the history of Sierra Leone, passing by one of the key junctions targeted during the war, through the village of Kamoriah that was devastated by Ebola and near to the home of the former president. You will feel like you are part of a real adventure around Sierra Leone while running through the beautiful jungle.

HALF MARATHON - 21KM 🇸🇱

Skirt the edges of the famous Wusum Hill, using it as your focal point as you pass over the iconic railway track and through some of the villages that have supported SLM since the very start.

10KM 🇸🇱

Two loops of the 5km course, this is your opportunity really take in what Makeni city centre has to offer.

5KM 🇸🇱

Join hundreds of other runners as you take on this fast-paced fun run around Makeni city centre, the electrifying atmosphere is a great way to start your day.
