The Northern Lights Run run by Orkusalan is a 4-5 km long fun run or walk through the center of Reykjavik where runners will see the city in a new and colorful light. Let go of your inhibitions and step out into the illuminated streets of Reykjavík. All attendees get their very own glow-in-the-dark merchandise to use during the event, making you a part of the entire show from start to finish. This event is part of the Reykjavík Winter Lights Festival which has been celebrated for the past 18 years.

This is not a timed event because this is not a competition, this is an experience. The Northern Lights Run is about feeling healthy, having fun and spending a wonderful evening with friends and/or family. As you weave your way through it, we encourage you to make it a fun and memorable evening.

The run is around 4-5K long course through Reykjavik city and passes a few of the best-known landmarks of the city center. It is possible for the participants to shortcut the route by 1 kilometer and which will be specially marked on the course and is suitable especially for younger children and those who are tired.

The run starts and ends at the Reykjavík Art Museum (Hafnarhúsið). On the way the participants will run through the downtown area, to Hallgrímskirkjan where participants enjoy music outside and lights inside the church. Inside Hallgrímskirkja is the only part of the course where you are not allowed to run. From Hallgrímskirkja, the run goes down to Hljómskálagarður and through Reykjavik City Hall. In the end, there will be refreshing drinks for everyone offered by Ölgerðin.
