IS DRACULA'S Castle, Transylvania, the best finish line in the world?

On May 27, competitors from over 50 countries will gather here to tackle a series of races through the stunning alpine-style scenery of the Bucegi mountain range.

They will follow twisty singletrack, ancient forest paths, high plateaus and windswept ridges before finishing below the legendary castle home of Vlad the Impaler.

The routes, tucked away in this beautiful and mysterious region of Eastern Europe, attract runners from all over the world. In 2014, only 75 competitors headed out into the wilderness; in 2022, nearly 1,500 left the starting line to tackle distances from 20,000 to 100,000.
